GCO is a non-profit organization established in 1990 and registered with the Social Welfare Department, under the social welfare agencies ordinance in 1994. The members ofGCO are agriculturists (farmers, researchers, scientists etc) and other professionals.
GCO is governed by an executive body comprising of 11 members, who are elected from the general body .
The mandate of GCO is to work for the achievement of food security through developing sustainable and organic agriculture and the socio-economic uplift of marginalized rural communities.
